Welcome Back!
I hope your summer has been relaxing, replenishing and filled with fun! BFSA has been busy this summer
working with the university and setting initiates for our association. We would like to give a special
thank you to Jonelle Beatrice, Director of Center for Student Progress and her staff, particularly Mike
Beverly and Tysa Egleston, for partnering with us to provide resource tables and time at the student
orientation luncheon to connect with the students.
As President of BFSA, I'm more enthused about the direction of our university and the mobility of our
association. YSU has obtained record numbers pertaining to enrollment for Fall 2009 by welcoming
14,600 + students! In addition to, President David Sweet extending his gratitude to the YSU community, I
conjoin in repeating the same gratitude to the YSU community and BFSA members who have
contributed significantly to this momentous achievement.
With the conclusion of our centennial celebration and in the mist of celebrating our recent
accomplishments, we as a university and BFSA have great challenges before us and I believe that we are
poised to embrace the challenges and collaboratively produce fruit from our labors. Therefore, I
encourage us not to be contented but set our sights higher collectively and individually to determine
how we can contribute to sustainable growth as YSU transitions to an urban research university, to
better equip our students for the marketplace.
Have a tremendous year and remember when we have an opportunity to make our YSU community and
ourselves better, seize it and do it with all our strength and with all our might!
Sincerely,
Hasheen A. Wilson, President
YSU BFSA
