Paid Internships for minority STEM Major Students

Seven YSU students were awarded paid research internships this spring and summer. The internship was made possible through a 15-university coalition. The coalition was aimed to increase the number of minority students in Ohio earning a bachelor's degrees in science,

The interim associate provost, Charles Singler, said the university was given a $49,000 grant to fund the internships created by the Ohio Science and Engineering Alliance program. Students from the YSU College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics received nine internship opportunities, he said, with two students qualifying for consecutive slots in both spring and summer.

Engineering
- James Aldridge, sophomore
- Mark Harvey, junior
- Brittany Wilkins, junior
Chemistry
- Solita Wilson, freshman, chemistry
- Darcelle Formby, senior, chemistry
Biology
- Daniel Oder, biology
- Hillary Howard, sophomore, biology
